(ECNS) -- Heavy rainfall brought by Typhoon Mesak has triggered flooding across south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, causing emergencies at multiple reservoirs in Hengzhou, Nanning.

On Tuesday, social media users shared screenshots claiming that a snake breeding farm in Dengwei Village, Yunbiao Town, Nanning City has been destroyed by floodwaters, with a large number of snakes escaping.

The posts warned nearby residents to remain vigilant.

Some online users also claimed that stranded villagers have been bitten by snakes while facing shortages of medical supplies.

Yunbiao Town is home to a number of snake breeding farms in low-lying areas and on surrounding hillsides.
