A total of 27 plants of this rare flower were discovered in a valley in Shuangjia Subdistrict, Zhongshan District, Liupanshui City, Guizhou Province.
Unlike ordinary plants, the white herbaceous perennial plant has no chlorophyll; therefore, it has no photosynthesis process for growth.
It grows in moist, shaded forests by absorbing nutrients provided by rotting leaves.
Also known as "ghost plant" or "Indian Pipe", it is non-toxic and edible, having no flavor raw but tasting like asparagus when cooked.
