Geermu (Golmud), Qinghai, home to Chaerhan (Qarhan), China’s largest natural salt lake, is known as the country’s “Salt Lake City”. Its salt mineral reserves exceed 60 billion tons, enough to blanket the entire European continent with a meter-thick crust of salt.

From Chaerhan, one salt lake after another has been awakened, Dongtai, Xitai, Yiliping. Together, they form China's largest brine lithium industrial belt.

Today, the brine lithium output of Qinghai Province alone, can equip over 2.5 million electric vehicles. That means nearly 1 in every 8 EVs sold worldwide could have its lithium sourced from this plateau salt lake cluster.
