Despite Sino-U.S. relations having experienced ups and downs, Xi Jinping continues to promote building a new model of major power relations.

In June 2013, Xi held talks with US President Barack Obama in Sunnylands, California. They discussed major international and regional issues of common concern and agreed to work together on ties, which has opened a new chapter for Sino-U.S. relations.

Xi Jinping pays his first state visit to the U.S. as China’s President from September 22 to 25, making it his seventh visit to the US. He seeks to encourage Sino-U.S. friendly cooperation and world peace.

He intends to reach a new consensus, based on non-conflict, non-confrontation, mutual respect, and win-win cooperation.

Meanwhile, Xi's visit aims for new breakthroughs in many fields, setting a direction for the future Sino-U.S. ties and lifting the bilateral relations to a higher level.
