China's basic medical insurance covers 1.32 billion people

(ECNS) -- China's basic medical insurance program covered 1.319 billion people during the first five months of the year, an increase of 4.69 million from a year earlier, the National Healthcare Security Administration said Thursday.

Enrollment in the employee basic medical insurance program rose by 7.16 million year over year to 386 million, while the resident basic medical insurance program covered 923 million people, down 2.46 million from a year earlier.
