(ECNS) - A woman spraying perfume on herself in a train toilet attracted unwanted attention after the strong scent forced the train to stop automatically as a safety precaution.

The G6602 train suddenly stopped while running from Zhengzhou East to Anyang East on June 26 after the smoke detection system in a toilet triggered an alarm.

The train’s mechanic later said everything was normal except that a woman had filled the air in the bathroom with intense perfume. The mechanic immediately intervened and dispersed the fragrance.

The smoke detector mistakenly detected the perfume as concentrated smoke beyond the safety limit.

"This incident directly led to the delay of three minutes for this train. For a high-speed train, three minutes is very important,” said a manager at the Zhengzhou Railway Bureau, adding that a five-minute delay will affect all subsequent trains on the line.

Authorities said the use of perfume and sun cream on high-speed trains has led to stoppages several times. The Zhengzhou Railway Bureau has urged passengers to be mindful when using perfume or sun creams and other summer supplies that may affect the operation of trains.
