(ECNS) -- Heavy to torrential rains have recently hit the southeastern part of Hainan in South China under the combined influence of a tropical depression over the South China Sea and cold air, with some townships experiencing exceptionally heavy rainfall.
On Tuesday, the Hainan Provincial Department of Finance and the Emergency Management Department urgently allocated 19 million yuan ($2.7 million) in disaster relief funds to support affected areas including Wuzhishan, Baoting, Wanning, Qionghai, Lingshui, Dongfang and Changjiang.
The funds will be used to assist affected residents, transport and store relief supplies, identify and address potential risks of secondary disasters, and restore and rebuild damaged homes. The measures aim to ensure the basic living needs of affected residents and help disaster-hit areas resume normal production and daily life as soon as possible.
