Heilongjiang begins autumn rice harvest across black soil fields(1/6)

As the golden autumn days set in, the fertile black soil fields of Northeast China's Heilongjiang province are alive with waves of ripening rice, as various regions begin their autumn rice harvest operations.

On Tuesday, Jiangchuan, a State-owned farming company that's part of Beidahuang Group started harvesting and drying rice. The farm aims to seize the consumer window period during the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays. Pre-sale orders have already topped 100 metric tons.

On Sunday, the fifth Wuchang Korean Ethnic Tribute Rice Harvest Festival commenced in Minle Korean Ethnic township of Wuchang city in Harbin. Rice buyers from all over the country, along with tourists and industry experts, gathered in the fields to witness the harvest of Wuchang rice, which is famous for its unique flavor and texture.

The event featured multiple strategic cooperation signings and live-stream sales. The online sales of the newly harvested rice surpassed 10 million yuan ($1.5 million).

Meanwhile, in Beidahuang's Puyang Farm, farmers rush to complete their work. The farm segments its harvesting and drying in a system that allows the rice to naturally dehydrate in the field. The method enhances rice quality and mitigates the risks of lodging and grain loss due to autumn rain and strong winds. Agricultural technicians are also on the ground to provide household education and operational guidance.
