Tornado damages school in Hainan, no casualties reported

(ECNS) -- A suspected EF0 tornado struck Wanning, Hainan Province, at around 10:25 a.m. Monday, damaging facilities at the Wanning Experimental School of Beijing Normal University but causing no casualties, local authorities said.

The Wanning Meteorological Bureau identified the weather event after on-site investigation and analysis. Damage included collapsed playground fencing, a 20-meter fence around the discus area blown over, a toppled football goal, broken trees and damaged lampposts.

Officials said the tornado was preliminarily classified as EF0, the weakest category on the Enhanced Fujita scale.
