(ECNS) -- The 15th Shanghai World Chinese Dragon Boat Invitational was held from Sept. 10 to 14 in Qingpu District, Shanghai, drawing 20 teams and more than 400 athletes from 14 countries and regions.
The competition featured 200-meter and 400-meter straight-course races for mixed-gender teams of 12 paddlers.
The Argentina Dragon Boat Team, PPFD of France, and the Austrian Dragon Boat Association finished first, second and third, respectively, in the overall standings.
Launched in 2009, the event is an international dragon boat competition primarily for overseas Chinese participants.
A water sports and cultural exchange event for young people from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, as well as members of overseas Chinese communities, was also held concurrently, featuring nine teams from Taiwan and the Yangtze River Delta region taking part in a friendly dragon boat race.
The event also combined dragon boat racing with tourism, shopping and cultural performances, showcasing cultural elements from both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
