China's carbon market trades over 900 million metric tons in first eight months of 2026

(ECNS) -- The 2026 China Carbon Market Conference was held on Tuesday in Wuhan, Hubei Province, where the National Carbon Market Development Report (2026) was released. 

According to the report, as of the end of August, cumulative transactions on the national carbon emissions trading market had exceeded 900 million metric tons, with a total value of more than 60 billion yuan (about $8.9 billion). 

China’s national carbon market has developed from the ground up and continued to expand, playing an important role in helping the country achieve its goals of peaking carbon emissions and reaching carbon neutrality.
