(ECNS) -- As the Mid-Autumn Festival draws near, mooncake production and sales are in full swing in Wenzhou and Taizhou, Zhejiang Province, where local manufacturers are boosting domestic supply while expanding into overseas markets.

At the Zhisuji Pastry Culture Museum in Longgang, Wenzhou, neatly arranged mooncake gift boxes add to the festive Mid-Autumn atmosphere.

The shop has launched gift sets featuring youthful designs to appeal to younger consumers. The products are sold in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions, as well as Southeast Asian countries.

The unique flavors of Taizhou mooncakes are popular with overseas buyers. Production lines there run nearly around the clock. The factory entered its three-month peak production season in early August, with orders up 10% year-on-year.

To meet growing demand for healthier products, the newly launched "Crispy" series has become a hit. Improved production techniques help address the short shelf life of traditional mooncakes and the challenges of long-distance transportation.

Sales of the series are expected to reach several million yuan, while more new varieties have also been rolled out. The company’s mooncakes are exported to Vietnam, the Philippines, Japan and other markets.
