(ECNS) -- Liling porcelain from central China’s Hunan Province, known for its distinctive underglaze polychrome technique, is now exported to more than 150 countries and regions and has been presented as a diplomatic gift on multiple occasions.
With a history of more than 2,000 years, Liling porcelain is prized for colorful designs protected beneath the glaze, making products more durable.
Some pieces require nearly 100 production steps. Among its best-known creations are bird-singing wine sets, first developed in 1972 for diplomatic occasions, which produce a bird-like sound when wine is poured.
Today, Liling’s porcelain industry has more than 1,500 related companies and nearly 200,000 employees, producing more than 4,000 types of household and artistic ceramics. Daily-use porcelain accounts for 11.7% of global output, while products are exported to more than 150 countries and regions.
The sector has also expanded into functional ceramics for energy, electronics, aerospace and automobiles, while ceramic-themed tourism attracts nearly 300,000 visitors annually.
