(ECNS) -- Chinese-made electric vehicles have entered the Canadian market, with May marking the first month of EV imports from China, according to data from Global Affairs Canada.
This followed an agreement reached earlier this year, under which Canada will allow up to 49,000 Chinese EVs to enter the country annually at a reduced tariff rate of 6.1 percent.
In return, China has agreed to reduce tariffs on some Canadian canola products.
