(ECNS) -- The Lu Xun Literary Editions Museum opened near Lu Xun's former residence in Shaoxing, east China's Zhejiang Province, on Monday, the 90th anniversary of the writer's death.
Lu Xun (1881-1936), one of the most influential figures in modern Chinese literature, was a leading writer, essayist and translator whose works remain widely read in China and abroad.
The museum houses more than 1,000 volumes on permanent display and is open to visitors from China and abroad.
The collection includes complete works, editions of individual works and translations in Chinese and other languages, including a 1926 edition of Wandering and a 1938 20-volume edition of The Complete Works of Lu Xun. It also features rare documents, including manuscripts of Lu Xun's diaries and letters.
The exhibits were donated by collector Shi Xingwen, who said he had preserved the materials for more than 50 years and wanted them returned to Lu Xun's hometown for public display.
Qiu Shixiong, former director of the Shaoxing Lu Xun Memorial Hall, said the museum displays multilingual editions of Lu Xun's works, including an English edition of Call to Arms and a Japanese edition of Dawn Blossoms Plucked at Dusk, reflecting the international reach of his writing.
The museum is expected to support research on Lu Xun's works and give the public greater access to his literary legacy.
