During the 2026 Tongzhou Global Development Forum hosted by Renmin University of China on October 11, Glenn Diesen, professor of International Relations at the University of South-Eastern Norway, gave an exclusive interview for China News Network.

He noted that China boasts a mature industrial system, high-quality yet affordable goods and strong market competitiveness. This may pose certain challenges to emerging industries still taking shape in some countries. He stressed, however, that competition does not mean "decoupling" from China, nor is there any need to deliberately vilify the country. Other nations can foster diversified partnerships and achieve sharing of technologies and expertise through joint ventures.
