(ECNS) -- The 2026 China Stand-Up Paddleboarding Masters League kicked off on Sunday on the Ganjiang River in Wan'an County, Ji'an City, east China's Jiangxi Province.
Top paddleboarders from Jiangxi, Fujian, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Sichuan, Zhejiang and other parts of China gathered at Xin'an Lake to compete in a series of races.
The two-day competition features three categories -- elite, amateur and city teams -- with events including 4-kilometer and 8-kilometer endurance races, a 1,500-meter technical race and a 200-meter sprint. The range of events caters to participants of different ages and skill levels.
Beyond the competition, traditional performances offered a glimpse of Wan'an's millennia-old history as a river transport hub. Visitors could also take part in interactive challenges for a chance to win prizes, including cultural merchandise, homestay vouchers and dining coupons.
Organizers partnered with local businesses to offer food-tasting packages and dining discounts. A traditional Chinese medicine fair also showcased local specialty products and provided health consultations.
By combining sporting events with cultural experiences and consumer incentives, the event aims to translate visitor traffic into increased local spending.
