Former Japanese PM Hatoyama calls on Takaichi to withdraw Taiwan-related remarks

Former Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama on Tuesday urged current Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi to withdraw her erroneous remarks regarding China's Taiwan, while calling on the Japanese government to adhere to the one-China policy.

Speaking at the 13th Beijing Xiangshan Forum, which runs from Tuesday to Thursday in Beijing, Hatoyama said, Takaichi should either retract her remarks or, by some other means, communicate in "an absolutely unambiguous manner" that Japan continues to firmly respect the one-China policy.(Huang Fang, Zhang Dongfang, Diao Wei, Xu Junjie)
