Children display their writing of Chinese character "Ren" (which means human in English) during the First Writing Ceremony in Xi’an, Northwest China’s Shaanxi province, Mar. 1, 2015. More than 50 school-age children in Han Chinese costumes participated in the traditional ceremony. The First Writing Ceremony, also called the Qi Meng (Enlightenment) Ceremony, was once a very important ceremony for every student before they were admitted to school in ancient China. Teachers usually gave them a red dot on their forehead to open the "wisdom eye". (Photo: China News Service/Zhang Yuan)
