The vandalization to the Liaison Office, including besieging the office and defacing the Nation Emblem mounted at the office entrance, is a blatant defiance to the nation's sovereignty and an open challenge to the "one country, two systems" principle, Lam said.

Such acts have left a great harm to the special administrative region which is governed by the principle of "one country, two systems", Lam added.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive also condemned the "astonishing and outrageous" attacks in Yuen Long. On late Sunday night, attackers in white shirts, some wearing masks, assaulted passengers at the Yuen Long metro station with bamboo sticks.
