(ECNS) -- China will accelerate the global expansion of quality cultural products following the international popularity of homegrown IPs like Wukong and Nezha, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced on Wednesday.
China’s cultural sector generated more than 20 trillion yuan ($2.84 trillion) in operating revenue in 2025, up 49.6% from 2020, according to Miao Muyang, director of the ministry’s Industrial Development Department.
During the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030) period, the ministry will focus on four key priorities: boosting innovation, unleashing consumption potential, deepening cross-sector integration, and expanding cultural exports.
Chinese online literature, web dramas, video games and designer toys have gained traction in international markets. To support their expansion, the ministry plans to establish trade platforms, strengthen service networks and facilitate business matchmaking, Miao said.
The measures are intended to help Chinese cultural products reach a wider range of overseas markets.
