Mastering Chinese culture is key to faithfully translating its masterpieces: Italian sinologist

Italian sinologist Patrizia Liberati said in an interview that the soul of a nation is deeply rooted in its cultural heritage. To truly understand each other, people must first cast aside prejudices and stereotypes, engaging in sincere dialogue on an equal footing.

She noted that cross-cultural exchange is fundamentally a connection between hearts. Translators must both master Chinese culture and know what resonates with readers in their home country, faithfully conveying Chinese masterpieces to achieve a deep dialogue between two souls, the sinologist said.
