(ECNS) -- A satellite-based digital farming demonstration in northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province reduced agricultural inputs by about 18%, improved operational efficiency by more than 20% and increased rice yields by around 750 kilograms per hectare, according to results presented at a satellite industry conference in Jiamusi.
The demonstration uses space-air-ground integrated remote-sensing technology to support digital management throughout the farming process, from planting and cultivation to field management and harvesting.
The technology was among 15 satellite-related achievements unveiled at the fourth Jiamusi Satellite Industry Development Conference, which concluded Wednesday.
The 15 technologies cover a range of areas, including satellite equipment manufacturing, remote-sensing applications, large-scale BeiDou applications, satellite internet, and satellite tracking, operation and control.
Jiamusi has been developing its satellite industry and has established cooperation with 28 aerospace companies, with 21 industrial projects launched locally. The city is expected to expand the use of satellite remote-sensing data in agricultural monitoring, ecological protection and disaster warning through future cooperation.
