Beijing Capital remains world's 2nd-busiest airport in H1

Beijing Capital International Airport remained the world's second-busiest airport by passenger traffic in the first half of the year, said Civil Aviation Data Analysis, a civil aviation data platform based in Shanghai, on Thursday.

The airport witnessed 49.38 million passengers during the first six months this year, with an increase of 5.91 percent year-on-year. Aircraft movements during this period were 302,407, up 3.77 percent compared with a year earlier.

Hong Kong International Airport, which handled 36.91 million passengers as of the end of June, a 3.32 percent increase year-on-year, took the eighth spot on the list. Meanwhile, Shanghai Pudong International Airport was the ninth busiest, with passenger traffic of 36.69 million and aircraft movements of 250,768, up 7.48 percent and 2.95 percent, respectively, compared with last year.

Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport topped the list as the world's busiest airport, with passenger traffic of 52.64 million in the first six months, while Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi saw the fastest growth of passengers with an increase of 13.41 percent during the same period. In terms of average passengers per flight, Dubai International Airport, Hong Kong International Airport and Seoul's Incheon International Airport handled most passengers per aircraft.
