The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Eastern Theater Command dispatched multiple waves of naval and air forces to conduct combat alert patrols and training around the island of Taiwan from Chinese New Year's Eve on January 28 to the Lantern Festival on Wednesday, China Central Television (CCTV) reported on Wednesday.
During a combat alert patrol on Wednesday, the PLA Navy warship Huaibei contacted Taiwan island's warship Yi Yang via radio: "The Lantern Festival is a traditional festival for Chinese people on both sides of the Straits. On this festive occasion, I wish you and your families a happy Lantern Festival!" CCTV reported.
In addition to maritime forces, multiple J-10C fighter jets took off for combat alert patrols around the island of Taiwan, according to the CCTV report, which also revealed that multiple H-6K bombers sortied for round-the-clock flight missions.
