(ECNS) -- Warner Bros. Discovery Inc. is partnering with China’s Jinjiang International to develop its largest "Making of Harry Potter" studio tour in Shanghai, set to open in 2027, the Chinese group announced Wednesday.
According to Jinjiang International, the amusement park, covering an area of over 53,000 square meters, would lead tourists on a spectacular behind-the-scenes exploration of Harry Potter films.
China is already home to a Harry Potter-themed attraction at the Universal Beijing Resort.
Lin Huanjie, director of the Institute for Theme Park Studies in China, said the project is a high-quality, large-scale addition to Shanghia’s attractions. A clear name and positioning will help maximize its brand influence and showcase its content, which will attract fans of Harry Potter, Lin added.
The opening of the amusement park will not only fulfill the desire of Chinese Harry Potter fans to experience the magical world up close, thereby stimulating related consumption in China, but it is also expected to attract tourists from South Korea and Southeast Asia to visit Shanghai, further boosting the development of the inbound tourism market, he added.
