(ECNS) -- China-developed open-source AI large model DeepSeek has rapidly captured the global market within a week, drawing attention for its lower costs and superior performance while shaking up the U.S. technology industry.
American Robin Rowe, chairman of the UN ITU Medical Metaverse Task Group, told China News Network that DeepSeek's performance has improved tenfold while its cost dropped to one-tenth, making its rapid market dominance unsurprising.
Rowe believes that China's advantage lies in the fact that half of all AI scientists are in the country, providing it a vast pool of AI talent.
Additionally, China has more cities than the U.S. developing AI startup incubators.
Currently, Rowe is designing AI courses for American universities, advocating for the accelerated development of AI in the U.S. He noted that since most of DeepSeek's developers are young researchers and recent graduates, China is going to leave the U.S. behind in the field of AI. (Gong Weiwei)
