(ECNS) — The International Organization for Standardization and the International Electrotechnical Commission have published an international standard for brain-computer interface reference architecture led by China, China’s State Administration for Market Regulation said Friday.
The standard was developed under the leadership of a Chinese project manager, with experts from Italy, the Republic of Korea, the United Kingdom, India, the United States, Japan, Sweden, Finland, Australia, Germany and other countries.
The standard addresses four core questions: what a BCI is, how it is used, what functions it provides and how it is implemented, helping reconcile differences in system components, functional divisions and implementation methods across technologies and application scenarios.
The administration said the standard will provide a common technical reference for BCI development, system design and future standards.
