(ECNS) -- China will establish a national inventory of cultural heritage resources and consolidate them into a comprehensive national database to improve the coordinated management of different types of heritage during 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030), an official said at a news conference on Tuesday.
The country will conduct a comprehensive survey of its cultural heritage assets and establish a system for surveying and cataloguing movable and immovable cultural relics, intangible cultural heritage and other forms of heritage, Hu Kaihong, deputy director of the General Office of the Central Commission for Guiding Cultural and Ethical Progress, said at the conference.
China will follow the principle of protecting all eligible heritage resources and ensure that items requiring protection are promptly added to official protection lists, Hu said.
China is home to 61 UNESCO World Heritage sites, including the Great Wall, the Mogao Caves and the Beijing Central Axis.
