(ECNS) -- Beijing, Hangzhou and Shenzhen were ranked China’s top three cities for AI computing power in 2026, according to a report jointly released in Beijing on Monday by IDC and Inspur Information.
Beijing retained the top spot, backed by a well-developed computing power supply chain and a high concentration of AI model and application companies.
Hangzhou ranked second, supported by its AI business cluster, strong internet industry base and continued advances in large models and embodied intelligence, while Shenzhen placed third, buoyed by its strengths in AI servers and computing chips.
The report forecasts that China’s intelligent computing capacity will reach 2,576.5 EFLOPS in 2026, up 87.9% year on year, before rising to 10,524.3 EFLOPS by 2030. The country’s AI computing market is expected to reach $51.5 billion this year, up 37%, and $150.1 billion by 2030.
The report also said the rapid growth of AI agents is driving up token consumption and computing demand, shifting competition in AI infrastructure away from capacity expansion and toward greater system efficiency.
