(ECNS) -- Beijing ranked fifth in the 2026 Global City Talent Retention Index, remaining in the world’s top 10 for the seventh consecutive year, according to a report released in Beijing on Monday.
New York topped the ranking, followed by London, San Francisco and Paris, while Shanghai ranked ninth.
The index assessed 130 cities in 47 countries across six dimensions: economic fundamentals, innovation momentum, cultural openness, ecological health, social welfare and public life.
The report, jointly released by the Beijing Institute of Talent Development Strategy and Springer Nature, ranked Beijing first for innovation momentum, citing its strong research output, concentration of leading scientists and world-class research institutions.
