(ECNS) -- The Taste Hunan · 2026 Hunan Cuisine Internationalization Promotion Conference was held in Changsha from Saturday to Sunday, bringing together nearly 1,000 guests to discuss industry cooperation and strategies for expanding the cuisine’s global reach.
In recent years, Hunan has developed comprehensive industrial chains to support the global expansion of its cuisine through standardized production, brand development, industrial growth and cultural promotion.
Shi Fenggang, deputy director of the Hunan Provincial Department of Commerce, said Hunan restaurants now operate in more than 60 countries and regions, with nearly 2,000 outlets overseas.
On Saturday morning, the event “100 Global Chefs, 100 Chili Stir-fried Pork Dishes” set a Guinness World Record.
Hunan cuisine generates annual output worth more than 600 billion yuan (about $89.6 billion). Its customer base is also expanding beyond overseas Chinese communities to include more local mainstream consumers.
