Qinghai expands international freight rail links across 12 countries

(ECNS) -- Northwest China’s Qinghai Province has expanded its international freight train network to 18 cities across 12 countries since launching its first China-Europe freight train in 2016, the Qinghai Provincial Department of Commerce said Sunday.

Four new international container freight routes have been launched this year, linking Xining with Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, the Balkan Region in Turkmenistan and Vientiane in Laos, as well as Delingha with Pavlodar in Kazakhstan.

The new services have further strengthened Qinghai’s rail links with Central and Southeast Asia. 

The freight services facilitate exports of locally produced goods, including polyvinyl chloride, soda ash, goji berries and traditional Chinese medicinal materials, helping the inland province expand its overland export channels.
