(ECNS) -- The Pinglu Canal officially began operations on Wednesday, with Nanning Customs supervising 1,679.8 metric tons of import and export cargo on its first day.

To ensure efficient clearance for foreign trade vessels, Nanning Customs prepared detailed plans, conducted full‑process drills and provided advance guidance on declarations for more than 50 key foreign trade and logistics companies.

The authority is also supporting trials of multimodal transport involving rail, sea and water transfers, offering more options for the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, a major logistics network connecting China’s western regions to global markets.

Nanning Customs said it will continue to work with other customs authorities, ports and shipping companies along the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor to ensure smooth foreign trade logistics through the canal.
