(ECNS) -- More than 105,000 Malaysian travelers took the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway in the first eight months of 2026, accounting for about 40% of all foreign passengers during the period, according to data from the railway operator.

Since the line began operations in October 2023, a total of 403,626 Malaysian passengers had traveled on the route as of August 2026, the highest among foreign nationals. They made up 42.8% of the 944,087 foreign passengers recorded.

Many visitors learned about the railway through social media and praised its fares, comfort and services. Travel agencies in Indonesia and Malaysia have also launched packages combining high-speed rail rides with attractions and accommodation.

Built through cooperation between Indonesia and China, the 142.3-kilometer railway cuts travel time between Jakarta and Bandung from more than three hours to just 46 minutes, with trains operating at speeds up to 350 kilometers per hour. The line is becoming a new link connecting Indonesia with tourists from across Southeast Asia.
