(ECNS) -- Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Monday that the cooperation between China and Venezuela is protected by international law and the laws of both countries, unrelated to any third party, and should not be subject to interference by any third party.
Mao made the remarks at a press conference when asked whether Venezuela had explicitly assured China that China's oil interests would not be affected by the new agreement between the U.S. and Venezuela.
"China's legitimate rights and interests in Venezuela must be protected," the spokesperson said.
