China allocates $33.7 million for emergency disaster relief in five provinces

(ECNS) -- China's Ministry of Emergency Management on Monday urgently allocated 240 million yuan (about $33.7 million) in central natural disaster relief funds to support rescue efforts in five provinces affected by floods and geological disasters.

According to the ministry, Typhoon Shader has recently brought persistent heavy rainfall to parts of southern China, with extreme precipitation triggering floods and geological disasters and causing damage to homes.

Triggered by Typhoon Shader, persistent heavy rainfall has caused casualties and damaged homes across southern China. The funds will support emergency rescue and relief in Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan and Yunnan, with priorities including relocating affected residents, removing hazards, providing temporary living assistance and repairing damaged homes.

Officials said the allocation aims to help disaster stricken areas restore normal production and daily life as quickly as possible.
