(ECNS) -- The Beijing Photography Week 2026 (Photo Beijing 2026) opened at the China Millennium Monument in Beijing on Saturday under the theme "The Image, Resonance, Insight."
Yang Yuanxing, founder and chairman of the organizing committee, said "resonance" emphasizes the power of images to connect individual experiences with public emotion, while "insight" reflects a clear examination of visual transformation in the age of artificial intelligence. He noted that in the new technological environment, photography must maintain authentic, profound and warm expression while exploring new paths for international communication of Chinese visual works.
This year's photography week features a diverse range of exhibitions organized around several thematic threads, including the spirit of the times, international exchange and academic dialogue, cultural heritage, artistic practice and industry ecology.
International exchange is a major highlight this year. "Eyes on the History of World Photography – Masterpieces from the Hungarian Museum of Photography" presents works by 12 Hungarian photographers who shaped 20th-century photography, including André Kertész. Most of the works are being exhibited in China for the first time.
In addition, ongoing exhibitions such as the "Cloud Image" mobile photography exhibition and the 2026 Silk Road Youth Photography Exhibition continue to make photography an accessible art form for the public.
Zhao Yingxin, artistic director of the event, said truly powerful images always come from real scenes and long-term accumulation. She said the photography week will continue to document the times and engage in dialogue with the world.
The exhibition runs through Sept. 13.
