China-Central Asia meteorological cooperation forum opens in Urumqi

(ECNS) -- The second China-Central Asia Meteorological Cooperation Forum opened in Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, bringing together meteorological officials and experts to discuss cooperation on disaster prevention, mitigation and meteorological technology. 

The forum released an action plan for the implementation of the “Mazu” smart meteorological early warning solution for Central Asian countries for 2026–2027. The plan aims to strengthen regional disaster prevention capabilities through shared data, joint research and professional training.

A delivery ceremony was also held for a Nepal-customized version of the “Mazu” solution. Nepal’s Department of Hydrology and Meteorology said the tailored system reflects the country’s geography and disaster risks, helping build shared capacity in smart meteorological early warning.
