Guangzhou-led hydrogen pilot targets 16,000 fuel-cell vehicles and 100 refueling stations

 

(ECNS) -- A Guangzhou-led hydrogen pilot program involving 11 cities in five Chinese provinces aims to deploy 16,000 hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles and build 100 refueling stations during the four-year pilot period, under plans announced Tuesday in Guangzhou.

The participating cities are located across Guangdong, Fujian, Hubei, Hunan and Hainan provinces. Three additional cities in Guangdong will support the program, while Hong Kong will participate in broader regional coordination.

The pilot received approval in principle in August from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Finance and the National Development and Reform Commission.

Plans also call for four hydrogen transport corridors and expanded use of hydrogen in industrial applications. Hydrogen is listed as one of six future industries in China’s 15th Five-Year Plan.
