The Sichuan Anzihe nature reserve in Chongzhou City, located in the border zone between the Wolong and Blackwater River reserves, is not only the key path and connection between the panda populations on Qionglai Mountains, but also an important part of the World Natural Heritage Site of the panda on Qionglai Mountains.

Since the Sichuan Anzihe nature reserve was established in 1993, more than ten rangers became keepers of the 101-square-kilometer forest. Over the years, they have worked hard under tough conditions to protect the habitat for rare wildlife like the panda, snow leopard, golden monkey, gnu, Davidia involucrate and Taxus chinensis. There are 9 rangers in three conservation stations, two of whom permanently reside there.

Journalists followed three rangers patrolling the mountain on Nov 25th and 26th, 2014. They crossed the thicket in the daytime and camped in the wild to experience a ranger's life in the wilderness.
