Zongzi, or sticky rice dumplings, is a traditional Chinese food. They’re usually made of glutinous rice, stuffed with a variety of fillings and wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves.

Although available year-round, zongzi are a traditional food eaten during Dragon Boat Festival, which usually falls on the fifth day of the fifth month on the lunar calenda. The festival commemorates the death of poet and patriot Qu Yuan over 2,000 years ago.

Zongzi vary in shapes, fillings and wraps. Check out the photo gallery for eight savory styles.
