"China isn't erasing anything." In the view of American journalist Jason Smith, China has been amplifying and celebrating diverse minority cultures in the course of its modernization.
Smith has lived in Beijing for many years and has travelled many across China. In response to claims spread by Western media that China is erasing minority cultures, he refuted the claims based on his own personal experience in China News Network's latest episode of "News Lounge".
He noticed that the Han girls would dress in Miao clothes to take photos and in the Beijing park, retired seniors would learn ethnic dances from Uygurs.
