China's Alzheimer's blue book calls for stronger community screening, prevention and care

(ECNS) -- A 2026 blue book on Alzheimer's disease prevention and treatment in China, released Sunday in Beijing, called for stronger community-based prevention, early screening and a more comprehensive prevention and care system.

Based on nationwide survey data, the report reviews China's Alzheimer's prevention and treatment framework, research progress and challenges. It highlights inconsistent screening practices, limited grassroots capacity and gaps in care.

The blue book recommends building a system covering prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and care, while strengthening community health education, screening and referral mechanisms and promoting healthier lifestyles. It also calls for greater investment in research, innovative medicines and new diagnostic and treatment approaches.
