(ECNS)-- Horses trained by world's best jockeys attended five races in Guangzhou on Saturday. It was the first time that Hong Kong horses have attended the speed equestrian event in the Mainland.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club, in collaboration with Guangzhou government, held an Exhibition Raceday at Conghua Racecourse.

Hong Kong jockey Vincent Ho won the third race of the Guangdong-Hong Kong Cup (handicap).

He said he was impressed by the fine site conditions and supporting facilities.

Chief Executive of the HKSAR Carrie Lam hailed Conghua Racecourse as being a successful example of cooperation in developing the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Conghua Racecourse was officially opened in August 2018. It was operated in collaboration with Sha Tin Racecourse in Hong Kong.
