China's Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha captured the men's and women's singles titles on Sunday at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Champions Macao 2025.

Wang produced a commanding display in the men's final, defeating Brazil's Hugo Calderano in straight games (11-9, 11-7, 11-9, 11-4). The victory marks Wang's third WTT Champions Macao title, following previous wins in 2022 and 2023, and his second WTT Champions trophy this year after triumphing in Chongqing.

The final was a highly anticipated rematch—the two had split wins in their two previous encounters this year at the World Cup Macao and the World Table Tennis Championships in Doha. Calderano, appearing in only his second WTT Champions final, aimed to become the first player from the Americas to win at this level. However, Wang, powered by explosive attacking play, proved too strong on the day.

With this victory and Lin Shidong's surprise exit in the quarterfinals, Wang is set to reclaim the World No. 1 ranking, ending Lin's six-month stay at the top.

In the women's final, World No. 1 Sun Yingsha defended her title in a thrilling all-Chinese clash against World No. 2 Wang Manyu, prevailing 4-3 (11-8, 13-15, 11-9, 9-11, 5-11, 11-9, 11-6) after a dramatic comeback. After surrendering a 2-1 lead to trail 3-2, Sun rallied to claim the final two games and seal the match.

Sun now boasts seven WTT Champions singles titles, including three in Macao, and has won 17 WTT Series singles trophies overall.
