The corridors of the Cancer Hospital of Henan Province in central China city of Zhengzhou were filled with people anxiously waiting for a special wedding last Sunday. Yang Feng, 27, had planned to hold a wedding ceremony with his critically ill girlfriend in the hospital ward. However, the ceremony failed to take place as the bride's health condition deteriorated before the planned ceremony and later she was announced dead.

The bride-to-be was Xiaohui. She was diagnosed with chronic myelogenous leukemia when she was 24 years old. Two years ago, she met Yang Feng when Xiaohui wanted to take a ride in Yang’s truck. After knowing more about Xiaohui's experience and later appointments, their relationship was official. Unfortunately, Xiaohui's health condition got worst, and her illness changed from chronic to acute. The love she had with Yang became a way to seek medical treatment.

For two years, Yang did not leave Xiaohui. He found a delivery job and used his monthly salary of less than 5,000 yuan (about 720 US dollars) to support Xiaohui's medical treatment. He took care of Xiaohui until the midnight almost every day.

On August 10, the hospital said Xiaohui's was in critical condition. Having no regrets, Yang planned to have a wedding ceremony with her even if it took place inside the ward.

With all other things ready for the ceremony, Xiaohui's condition suddenly got worse, and she died with Yang at her bedside.

Although Xiaohui never got a chance to wear her wedding gown, she passed away with the love offered by her fiance.
