Upholding the spirit of a community with a shared future for mankind, China has not only been doing its best to protect the lives and health of its own people, but made positive contributions to safeguarding global public health security, Chinese President Xi Jinping said Tuesday in a phone call with Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

In the conversation, Xi noted that at a critical moment when China is sparing no effort to fight the COVID-19 outbreak, the crown prince lost no time in publicly voicing support for China's endeavors, and the government and people of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have for multiple times provided China with medical supplies.

That, said the Chinese president, has fully demonstrated the profound friendship of supporting each other through thick and thin between the two nations and the high level of the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership.

He stressed that since the outbreak of the coronavirus disease, China has always placed the lives and health of the people in the first place, and has given full play to its institutional strengths and adopted the most comprehensive, rigorous and thorough prevention and control measures to resolutely contain the spread of the epidemic.

Thanks to China's arduous efforts, the situation is witnessing positive changes across the country, Xi said, adding that China has full confidence, capacity and certainty to win the battle against COVID-19.

While making all-out efforts in epidemic prevention and control, China is also promoting an orderly resumption of work and production and pushing for continuous and healthy economic and social development, Xi said.

Meanwhile, the Chinese government has always acted with an open, transparent and responsible attitude, sharing information in a timely manner, actively addressing the concerns of various parties, and boosting cooperation with the international community, said the president.

China, he added, will continue to take effective measures to safeguard the life and health of all foreign nationals in the country, including UAE citizens, and stands ready to work with the UAE to maintain close communication on the latest development of the COVID-19 and share experience in epidemic prevention and control.

Xi recalled that the crown prince's state visit to China last year was a great success, as the two leaders reached important consensuses, and charted the course and drew a blueprint for the development of bilateral ties in the new phase.

China is ready to join hands with the UAE to continuously enhance political mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation in such fields as energy, infrastructure, finance, investment and production capacity within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, and boost people-to-people exchanges, so as to push for greater development of the China-UAE comprehensive strategic partnership in the new era, Xi said.

On behalf of the UAE government and people, the crown prince expressed sincere sympathies to the Chinese people over the COVID-19 outbreak as well as high appreciation for China's strong measures to combat the disease.

As China's friend and comprehensive strategic partner, the UAE firmly supports China's fight against the epidemic and stands ready to provide more help, he said, expressing confidence that under the strong leadership of Xi, the Chinese people will surely defeat the epidemic at an early date.

The UAE people will stand firmly with their Chinese brothers to overcome the difficulties, and the UAE side is ready to work with China to continuously deepen mutual support and cooperation and push for greater development of bilateral relations.
