The Palace Museum today announced a temporary closure from September 21 to October 1 on its official Weibo account.
According to the museum's website, tickets can be booked online 10 days in advance with a valid ID. Each ID is limited to purchase one ticket per day. The online booking system from Sep. 21 has been closed.
China's National Day Golden Week falls on Oct. 1 to Oct. 7 this year, usually a busy tourist time for the museum. During last year's Golden Week, the average visitor reception at the Palace Museum reached 170,000 per day.
The Palace Museum also reminded visitors to plan their visits ahead and avoid visiting during peak times if possible.
