(ECNS) - The International Horticultural Exhibition will open in a month to include the latest in floriculture and fruit and vegetable farming at a 500 hectare site at the foot of the Great Wall in northwest Beijing's Yanqing District.

From April 29 to October 7, the 162-day expo will demonstrate the theme "live green, live better," according to the organizer.

To date, 86 countries and 24 international organizations have confirmed they will participate in the expo, the highest attendance in the global event's history. Among them, 80 countries and international organizations will participate in outdoor exhibitions across 41 venues.

More than 16 million people are expected to visit the expo, which will be composed of over 100 gardens created in different styles and with diversified plant species.

It is the second time for China to hold the high-level horticulture event after the southwestern Chinese city of Kunming hosted the expo in 1999.

The expo will also give a full display of flowers, fruit trees, vegetables, Chinese herbal medicines, tea, coffee and other flora, covering the full chain from production to distribution and consumption.
